Dr. Anastasia Vayona
Anastasia Vayona is an interdisciplinary researcher whose work sits at the intersection of human behaviour, environmental sustainability, and cutting-edge technologies. Currently a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Bournemouth University, she specialises in understanding how organisations, policy makers and consumers navigate in complex technological landscapes to develop and adopt appropriate sustainability practices.
With a background spanning circular systems design and behavioural research, Anastasia brings both technical understanding and human-centred insights to address sustainability challenges. She has been the leading developer of the Human in the Circular Loop framework. Her early career involved designing large-scale infrastructure projects, including work on Athens 2004 Olympics facilities, offering her practical experience in complex systems implementation and stakeholder management.
Her research with the Circular Economy Foundation and École des Ponts Business School positioned her at the forefront of European sustainability policy development, including work on the EU Green Deal initiatives. She has developed frameworks for measuring and implementing circular economy principles in business contexts, with particular expertise in stakeholder engagement and sustainable technology adoption pathways.
With experience spanning academic research, policy development, and business applications across the UK, France, Belgium, and Greece, Anastasia brings both theoretical rigour and practical understanding to sustainability strategy. She regularly advises on European projects and reviews for leading scientific journals in sustainability and business.
